Community

Coming to Camp Hazen YMCA is one of the most important choices you'll ever make.  Living in our camp community is a unique and enthralling experience.  We strive to make every single camper's time here at Hazen the most memorable part of their year.

From the minute you arrive, you'll be immersed in the 'Hazen way'.  It feels great to be welcomed to a place like you've been here forever.

Living & Dining Camp Style

LEA Land: LEAs live in our Alpine Village, four cabins that each sleep five Campers and one Leadership Staff member.  The Alpine  Pavilion is used for evening workshops and activities and the Fire ring is a great place for pita pizzas and late night chats.  The Alpine Fire ring was built by the 2009 A/B LEAs as part of there Service Project.

LEAs on the Road: While on Camp, LEAs on the Road live at Oska, a Tent Village in the Woods that looks over the lake.  When on the Road, the DC LEAs stay at a campsite, just outside the city, where as the Habitat LEAs stay at a house provided by Habitat for Humanity.

Living with a group of campers and a counselor adds to the fun, spirit, and friendship of the summer experience. Each day is a lesson in responsibility and personal growth. Counselors guide the campers in cabin clean-up, observance of the schedule, and decision-making in daily activities.  Evenings are spent with the cabin or village group in a variety of exciting games, campfires, or all-camp events.

The dining hall is the favorite location for songs, socializing, and meals. Campers eat meals prepared by our experienced Food Service Director. Meals are well-balanced, nutritious, and appeal to even the most finicky of appetites.

We strive to meet the needs of all dietary restrictions.  If your child has specific needs, please contact us ahead of time.
