Camp Hazen
YMCA's Skate Park is the best place to learn how to
rollerblade or skateboard. Already a Pro?
Show off your moves in the park. The park has a
brand new half pipe, quarter pipe, pyramid, and fun box.
Camp Hazen's Skate Park is available to all summer
resident campers, many day campers and youth and family
campers. Do you have a school or youth group that
would benefit from a morning or afternoon of
skateboarding or rollerblading? The Skate Park is
available for rental groups from May to October
Kids are
naturally attracted to activities such as skateboarding.
Skateboarding develops physical and mental skills that
may benefit the participants immediately and throughout
their lives. Although many activities have a
healthy influence on a child's development, an activity
that the child chooses, such as skateboarding, will have
the greatest significance.
Skateboarding is intrinsically satisfying.
Children naturally gravitate toward activities that
involve rolling, turning, jumping and other such
movements. The heights, speeds, and technical
movements of skateboarding help a child learn to solve
problems and overcome fears.
Skateboarding has rules that must be learned and
followed, including unvarying physical rules with real
consequences. The sport also teaches rules that
relate to individual safety and the safety of others.
Skateboarding can enhance young people's ability to
adapt to experiences they encounter in life.
