Retreat Center
Camp Hazen is a
multiple-use educational and recreational facility owned and
operated by Camp Hazen YMCA. Our natural setting has been
preserved for summer resident camp, environmental education,
leadership training, team building and retreat usage. Located in
Chester, Connecticut Camp Hazen YMCA boasts over 150 acres of
woodlands and is situated on the shores of Cedar Lake adjacent
to the 1700-acre Cockaponsett State Forest. Only 2 ½ hours from
Boston and New York City, Camp Hazen YMCA is convenient yet
rustic enough to provide a traditional and adventurous
experience.
Camp
Hazen YMCA provides a relaxed atmosphere for retreats catering
single day and multiple day events. The facility includes a
Dining Hall with full meal service, meeting rooms, cabin style
accommodation, playing fields, hiking trails, picnic area,
campfire circles, outdoor chapel, boating, skate park, team
building course, climbing wall and Alpine Tower challenge
course.
Facilities
Bunting Dining Hall
The
impressive Dining Hall overlooking Cedar Lake is full of camp
charm including an open fireplace. The heated building can be
used throughout the year for meals, meeting space and banquets
for up to 300 people.
Stanley Lodge
This
wood heated room provides meeting space for up to 75 people. The
rustic open beamed ceiling and open fireplace provide a relaxed
camp atmosphere for workshops or meetings.
Food Services
Chef Joe
Berg prides himself on serving food of high quality and variety.
Chef Joe and his staff can prepare informal cook-outs to formal
banquets and anything in between.
We pay
special attention to dietary, health and vegetarian concerns.
Accommodations
Crows Nest:
Winterized accommodation for 30 people. Comprised of 3 wing each
with bath room and shower.
Knowles Lodge: Winterized accommodations for
30
people. 3 rooms each with bathroom and shower.
Alpine Village: Four cabins housing 6 people in
each. Heated with bathroom and shower.
Mosakwa Village:
Five seasonal cabins each housing up to 10 people. Indoor
bathrooms with showers.
Junianta Village: Six seasonal cabins each housing
up to 10 people. Indoor bathrooms, central shower house.
Tamarack Village: Seven seasonal cabins each
housing up to 10 people. Indoor bathroom, central shower
house.
Sachem Village:
Ten seasonal cabins housing up to 12 people with central
bathrooms and showers.
Designing
a Package
Camp
Hazen’s commitment to give personalized attention to every group
means retreat packages are tailored to best suit the needs of
your group. Retreats can be designed to include recreational
activities utilizing sports equipment and boating or visit our
teambuilding page for more options.
Camp
Hazen YMCA is open to schools, colleges, churches, clubs,
