Licensed Youth Camp
Camp Hazen YMCA is a licensed youth camp through the State of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC). This licensing ensures that our facilities, programs, health practices, and staff qualifications meet the state’s comprehensive standards for youth camps. The OEC conducts annual unannounced inspections to verify compliance and support continuous improvement. Families can review inspection reports for all licensed camps in Connecticut, including Camp Hazen, by visiting 211childcare.org, offering full transparency and peace of mind.

ACA Accredited
Camp Hazen YMCA is proudly accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), the national leader in youth development standards. ACA accreditation is a voluntary process that holds camps to rigorous, research‑based best practices in safety, program quality, and staff training. Many of our team members serve as ACA volunteer visitors themselves, giving us deep, hands‑on expertise with the standards and a strong commitment to excellence in every part of the camp experience.

Praesidium - Child Protection
Camp Hazen YMCA is accredited by Praesidium, the national leader in abuse prevention. Praesidium’s mission is to prevent the sexual abuse of children and vulnerable adults and to preserve trust in respected organizations. Their accreditation goes above and beyond industry standards, requiring rigorous policies, training, and oversight. Camp Hazen was one of the first YMCA camps in the country to earn this accreditation in 2022, and we are now proudly in our second accreditation cycle—reflecting our long‑term, proactive commitment to protecting every child in our care.
