LEAdership Program
LEA...the begining of LEAdership
The Start of Leadership is LEA. The Camp Hazen LEA program is the pinnacle of camp leadership programs. The workshops that you take part in and experiences that you have will change your perspective on who you are and what you are capable of.

Being a LEA means that you are willing to commit yourself to learning and to working hard in order to give yourself the opportunity to grow and develop as an individual. You will learn to step outside of your comfort zone and to challenge yourself. You will gain confidence and learn to use and embrace your strengths.

The LEA program is for teens entering the 11th. Successful completion of the program enables participants to apply to become an Assistant Counselor the following summer.

Lifeguard Training
Applicants to the LEA Program have the option to add an extra week at camp to complete the American Red Cross Lifeguard‑in‑Training course at no additional cost. This one‑week certification program is offered only during the same weeks as our Sampler Camp sessions, and because it’s a full‑time training experience, it cannot be taken during your LEA Program session. A $250 deposit is required to reserve your spot, and it’s fully refunded once you attend the course.
Day Camp
Leadership Program
Leaders In Training
A new Leadership Training Program at Day Camp gives rising teens the chance to step into more responsibility while still enjoying the fun of camp. Participants learn how to work with younger campers, practice communication and teamwork, and build confidence through hands‑on leadership experiences. With guidance from experienced staff, they get a behind‑the‑scenes look at how camp runs and discover what it means to be a positive role model. It’s a meaningful next step for campers who are ready to grow, contribute, and lead.

LIT PROGRAM EXPERIENCE
This is The Day Camp Capstone experience. In this program, campers will have the opportunity to take on a new role as they serve as role models and peer mentors to younger campers. This is your camper's chance to take on a new challenge in Day Camp while enjoying classic activities we know and love.
A typical day could include a mix of leadership workshops, counselor shadowing, classic Day Camp fun, Beach Party, and the opportunity to have input in the LIT experience as a group of developing leaders.

How to Apply
