Growth at Hazen has rarely meant starting over.

The goal is to understand what already works, protect the character of camp and then ask how a space, system or program can serve the next generation better.

Sometimes that means replacing a facility that has reached the end of its useful life. Sometimes it means redesigning a familiar space around greater privacy or accessibility. Sometimes a change is almost invisible to campers—a safer route through camp, more efficient infrastructure or a system that makes the property easier to maintain.

And sometimes it creates an entirely new place for kids to gather, play, challenge themselves or simply spend time together.

The Next Ring isn't construction for construction's sake.

Facilities matter because of what they make possible.

A thoughtfully designed village can help a group of campers become a community. A private changing space can remove a barrier that might otherwise keep a child from participating. A flexible indoor space can turn a rainy afternoon into one of the most memorable parts of a session. A challenge course can give a group the chance to struggle, communicate and succeed together.
